Admit it. You say you go to church all the time and a study finds that a majority of Americans exaggerate the amount of church they attend.

“Thou Shalt Not Lie” is one of the Ten Commandments. So it’s a little hypocritical that a new study finds Americans exaggerate the amount they attend church service. In fact, Americans stretch the truth about their religious practice more than any other nation in the world.
Professor Philip Brenner conducted the survey and says (quote) “Americans have long been viewed as exceptionally religious. But this study suggests that American religiosity may be exceptional -- not in terms of actual behavior -- but rather in terms of identity.” In general, people will say they go to church twice as often as they really do.
